I love a recipe/ meal that would be considered a no go on a diet= calorie friendly and delish!

618 calories per person - serves 2

P: 47g C:77g F: 23g

Making some lower calories swaps to a classic has made this so much more calorie friendly.

Ingredients

  • 25g lighter butter (I used Aldi norpak)

  • 100ml almond milk

  • 10g plain flour

  • 160g of dried macaroni pasta (you want 300g of cooked pasta- I weigh again once cooked)

  • 40g mature 50% less fat grated cheese - lused Asda version

  • 20g powdered Parmesan - Asda

  • 20g lightest philidephia cream cheese

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • Salt and pepper to season

  • 227g British beef steak - I got his from Aldi essentials range!

  • 10g lighter notpak butter

  • 2 x minced garlic cloves

Method

Put your pasta on to boil as per instructions.

🥩 Cut steak into chunks - try to keep them all the same size. Season well either salt and pepper.

🧀 On a low heat- In a large sauce pan. Add your butter-once melted add flour and milk. Mix well so it's not lumpy. Keep mixing it.

🧀 To your milk and flour mix add the grated cheese and Parmesan and stir well to make sure there are no lumps. Keep stirring.

This will take around 5 mins to thicken and melt all the cheese. At this point add the paprika, salt and pepper.

🥩 While your sauce is thickening on a high heat using 1kcal spray in a large frying pan sear your steak. 3 mins on each side.

🥩 Remove the steak from the pan. Reduce heat. Add butter and mince garlic. Allow the garlic to cook in butter for a minute of so then add the steak back in and mix well. I let it cook for a minute or so then removed from the heat so I didn’t overcook the steak.

🧀 Drain and add the pasta to your sauce and just before serving add the Philadelphia cheese and mix well.

🥩 🧀 Serve Mac and cheese and top with your garlic butter steak. Enjoy! I sprinkled a little dried parsley on top.
