Making some lower calories swaps to a classic has made this so much more calorie friendly.
Ingredients
25g lighter butter (I used Aldi norpak)
100ml almond milk
10g plain flour
160g of dried macaroni pasta (you want 300g of cooked pasta- I weigh again once cooked)
40g mature 50% less fat grated cheese - lused Asda version
20g powdered Parmesan - Asda
20g lightest philidephia cream cheese
1 tsp paprika
Salt and pepper to season
227g British beef steak - I got his from Aldi essentials range!
10g lighter notpak butter
2 x minced garlic cloves
Method
Put your pasta on to boil as per instructions.
🥩 Cut steak into chunks - try to keep them all the same size. Season well either salt and pepper.
🧀 On a low heat- In a large sauce pan. Add your butter-once melted add flour and milk. Mix well so it's not lumpy. Keep mixing it.
🧀 To your milk and flour mix add the grated cheese and Parmesan and stir well to make sure there are no lumps. Keep stirring.
This will take around 5 mins to thicken and melt all the cheese. At this point add the paprika, salt and pepper.
🥩 While your sauce is thickening on a high heat using 1kcal spray in a large frying pan sear your steak. 3 mins on each side.
🥩 Remove the steak from the pan. Reduce heat. Add butter and mince garlic. Allow the garlic to cook in butter for a minute of so then add the steak back in and mix well. I let it cook for a minute or so then removed from the heat so I didn’t overcook the steak.
🧀 Drain and add the pasta to your sauce and just before serving add the Philadelphia cheese and mix well.
🥩 🧀 Serve Mac and cheese and top with your garlic butter steak. Enjoy! I sprinkled a little dried parsley on top.
